A BIT OF HISTORY

The Tunnel opened in 1831 and operated as a road tunnel until the A35 was rerouted to the new Charmouth bypass completed in 1990.

The tunnel is 66m long and 6m wide, and its twin is still in use as a road tunnel near the town of Beaminster.

It was derelict for a number of years until the present owner purchased it in 2004. The conversion work began in 2009 and finished in 2010 when The Tunnel Target Sports Centre began business running the new ranges.

The Tunnel currently houses two rifle ranges, an armoury, and classrooms. In 2012 our 100m full bore range was completed, built on a section of disused road behind The Tunnel. The building currently houses the range, as well as our on-site gun shop, offices and additional classroom spaces.

The Tunnel Target Sports Centre is now a well established and highly regarded base, housing our world-class rifle shooting facilities for companies and private
individuls alike.

During the first UK-wide lockdown in 2020, and over our 10th anniversary, we were able to undertake a complete renovation of the centre. This involved new custom shooting benches and gun racks, backstops, and extraction for all three ranges.

The centre is also a base for our affiliates Bare Arms and Olive Group UK Ltd.
